CMI services include Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Integrative Restoration (iRest), Loving-Kindness
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a highly structured 8-week program that supports the development of practical mindfulness and meditation skills in a highly interactive classroom environment. With exercises designed to build awareness, students learn to respond rather than react to the challenges of daily living.

Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction’s potential for reducing stress, improving health and enhancing wellbeing is well documented through more than 30 years of clinical study and the experience of tens of thousands of students worldwide.

Recent research shows MBSR can:

  • Reduce chronic pain and boost the immune system;
  • Address painful mental states like depression and anxiety;
  • Minimize emotional reactivity and promote well-being;
  • Increase flexible attention and sharpen mental focus;
  • Thicken grey matter in the areas of empathy and problem-solving;
  • Foster happiness as a delightful by-product.

Experience the potential of mindfulness and enroll in one of our MBSR classes today.

MBSR and other mindfulness interventions offer evidenced-based benefit for all constituents of the healthcare system, including consumers, care providers, and administrative teams. A menu of mindfulness practices is a cost-effective way to build a strong foundation for a comprehensive health/wellness program within a variety of settings, from private practices to Accountable Care Organizations. Cascadia Mindfulness Institute works with organizations to develop a variety of targeted programs including:

  • Mindfulness-based emotional resiliency and burnout prevention for providers/physicians;
  • Mindfulness as a primary care intervention for a range of mental and physical health issues;
  • Mindfulness in leadership for executive and administrative teams;
  • Mindfulness for wellness promotion.
The impact of mindfulness on health

Research clearly demonstrates that mindfulness supports improvements in both physical and psychological symptoms and promotes positive changes in health attitudes and behaviors. Mindfulness strengthens individual self-efficacy and fosters inner wisdom; with increasingly skillful discernment, consumers make more beneficial health choices. This mindful approach to healthcare reduces current and future costs to the overburdened care system.
